DEACONS 4 EASTBOURNE 2

Saturday 24th November 2007
1-0 after 25 seconds, but an interesting battle between Eastbourne's preference for the mazy dribble over the Deacons' more prosaic teamwork. Thanks to Chris and John for umpiring in sometimes difficult circumstances with passions running a little high at times. JC also gets a mention for the hat-trick that never was.

If the groundsman finds the bit of Houlty's elbow that is missing, he'd like it back please.

Team: Cap'n Kev (non-playing), Smith (hobbling), Ian, Coxy (full game!), Andy, Chris, Jammo, Roger, Bob, Toddy, Houlty, Stuart, Milts, Clive, JC, Adrian. Goals: Clive 2, JC 2.

Dribble round that!

Pass or dribble? mmm....it's a tough call but....
Houlty looks worried that he may be required to put a tackle in

Andy and Coxy kept tackling all afternoon

Stuart smiles in the confidence that he would soon hit the pass of the match. Bob just smiles.

Great photo Kev

Do you want to swap hats after the game?

Enough! John later complained that he was upset at being called "sir"

BRIGHTON 3 DEACONS 3

Saturday 17th November 2007
The glamour fixture that all the side had been waiting for. Stanley Deason International Stadium on a cold November afternoon. Good result though, although plenty of chances were squandered

Goals: Clive 2, JC 1.

The team revelled in the glamourous surroundings

Kath rues the day Jammo invited her to spend the weekend at a "top sporting event"

A subtle tactical adjustment saw Norman playing slightly deeper than usual

Our biggest production budget ever (Reigate) was followed by the inevitable cutbacks and our smallest ever production budget.

Still, this was a good hard game we should have won.
